An international
survey completed in 1996 by the accounting firm
Ernst & Young, found that:
1. Two out of five companies are defrauded every year.
2. Half of all fraud is discovered by chance.
3. Most fraud is committed by the victim companys' own employees.
Like all 'cash businesses', hotels are particularly vulnerable
to fraud. There are many types of fraud and while some are fairly
obvious e.g. cash shorts in the
Bar area, stock theft etc., there are many which are not readily
recognizable.
At Bottomline Solutions, we have a deep understanding of the
Hotel Industry
and have the practical experience in order to identify the areas
where owners
are most vulnerable to internal as well as external fraud. We
can identify areas
of weakness and implement systems that will go a long way towards
eradicating losses in these areas.
Effective controls can be established relatively quickly and
at a reasonable cost. |
